The Results of the Spelling Bee

By Dubin

Every year we have a spelling bee to see how good we are at spelling words. We had the school spelling bee on the 9th of February in Sylvester Village. Standards 4-6 participated and I was very nervous. During the first round, we had to correctly spell the words that we had been studying in 15 seconds. In the reserve round, we had 20 seconds to spell words we had never seen. There were three winners: 3rd place was Victor, 2nd place was Alexis, and 1st place was me, Dubin.

For the Regional Spelling Bee, we went to August Pine Ridge. Standards 4-6 went along to cheer. I was very excited to go there, but the only bad thing was that we had to wake up early so that we could get there on time. Once there, all the participants had to go in front so that the people could see us and also to represent our school. I was really nervous, but then I wasn’t nervous at all. Unfortunately, neither Alexis nor I won. A girl from August Pine Ridge won 2nd place and a boy from Linda Vista won 1st place. I am very proud of myself and of Alexis because we did a really nice job.
